📐 How We Calculate Your Score
Our algorithm estimates your child's placement score by mapping raw practice test results against historical cohort data from NSW OC and Selective exams. Each subject is weighted according to the official test structure, then normalised to a 0–100 scale for easy comparison.
The percentile ranking shows where your child sits relative to the broader candidate pool — giving you a realistic benchmark for OC placement (top 10–15% typically required) or Selective entry (top 20–25% typically required).

📖 Reading
Comprehension, vocabulary, and critical interpretation of texts. A strong score here indicates solid literacy foundations.
🧮 Mathematical Reasoning
Problem-solving, number sense, and logical application of mathematical concepts — not just rote calculation.
🧠 Thinking Skills / General Ability
Pattern recognition, analogical reasoning, and abstract thinking. This is often the strongest predictor of placement success.
✍️ Writing (Selective only)
Creative expression, structure, and persuasive technique. Marked holistically by experienced NSW educators.
